Unemployment Tax Consultant

The job of UI Tax Analyst verifies, audits, and monitors clients' unemployment tax rates. Also, evaluate various savings opportunities for clients as they arise. This position will act on behalf of our client's behalf with the applicable state unemployment agencies to inquire about and resolve issues related to their unemployment tax account(s). This position coordinates with other departments to produce deliverables to clients and prospective clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and verify UI tax rate notices, including the filing of protests of rate calculations (if necessary)
  • Evaluate potential voluntary contribution and/or joint account opportunities where applicable
  • Consult and strategize with clients on various UI issues
  • Review M&A details and historical UI tax data provided by clients to analyze potential savings opportunities and/or impact analyses
  • Prepare registration forms, supplemental registration forms, and transfer applications for clients establishing new business(es) or acquiring existing business(es)
  • Assist in preparing and delivering comprehensive Annual Reports to clients
  • Participate in the implementation process for new clients as needed
  • Assist in the education and acclimation of new client to the Unemployment Cost Control Program, inclusive of but not limited to introductory phone calls and/or meetings, providing specific and thorough detail of all services provided by the Rate & Audit department
  • Calculate future UI tax rate projections for clients as requested
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner
  • Additional job functions include preparing claim trend analysis and acting as back-up support for other T&C departments as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent school and experience combined
  • 2+ years experience with Unemployment Tax or Unemployment Claims
  • Proficient with Microsoft office programs
  • Ability to take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize the appropriate tasks
  • Ability to adapt and deal with stressful situations
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with ability to act professionally and tactfully
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information as outlined in T&C handbook
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients, peers, team members, and leadership
