System Administrator

This System Administrator is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of all computer systems. Ensuring uptime, performance, resources, and security of the managed computers and systems meet the needs of the company and the clients. The IT System Administrator will operate under the direction of the VP of Technology and Infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops deep understanding of business processes and IT environment; integrate with IT partners to manage collective effort and achieve strategic goals. Build strong knowledge base and successfully execute upon the initiatives outlined herein.
  • Installs, supports, upgrades, and maintains servers, computer systems, network equipment, software applications, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.
  • Execute upon multiple initiatives simultaneously while prioritizing based on the security, system availability, and the overall needs of the company.
  • Provide routine automation, maintain security policies, troubleshoot, and serves as lead engineer for various technical projects.
  • Work professionally and interactively with users to meet their needs and ensure continuance of the systems and service levels they require to perform their roles effectively.
  • Maintains knowledge and supporting documentation of current technology and equipment.
  • Works collaboratively with both internal and external help desk on training and processes for secure, effective, and efficient support of the company's applications and systems.
  • Responsible for monitoring system availability and measuring system performance to ensure client-facing infrastructure and internal resources are operating optimally.
  • Works directly with CISO and security advisors focusing on security hardening and is responsible for planning and implementing remediations for system vulnerabilities both directly and by leveraging other members of operations.
  • Responsible for the overall planning, testing, and execution of hardware maintenance including firmware, patching, and backups.
  • Delegates junior-level tasks to less senior team members and identifies areas for improving the team's technical knowledge through demonstration and technical documentation.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related technical degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5-8 years proven working experience as a System Administrator.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing information security best practices through technology and process controls
  • Up to date knowledge of IT governance best practices.
  • Technical expertise in Microsoft products and willingness to learn about other 3rd party software.
  • Experience with the following highly desired: Active Directory, VMware, Fortinet (FortiGate, security services, and VPN), Building and maintaining Windows Server 2016 & 2019, Dell hardware including servers, storage, and networking, PowerShell, Windows 10, Office 365, AWS, Okta, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server.
